We also had the opportunity to speak with Associate Principal Designer, Leonard Panzica. He said that despite the highly detailed sculpts, the entire G.I. Joe Classified isn’t just for collecting. They can be played with by all ages as well. There’s a reason for all the accessories, weapons, and interchangeable parts. “We really want the line to be a fully playable universe that, honestly, you can put on your shelf or they can be a pile on the floor that you’re playing with.”
Fans of the Energon Universe could dream one day of receiving characters from the Skybound Entertainment comics. Panzica said, “We work very close with Skybound. We are talking back and forth. They are a great partner. Those books are amazing. So, yeah, it could definitely be a possibility.”
Panzica left us with what you can expect from the G.I. Joe Classified series in the next year. “Continue doing what we’re doing. Expanding and getting into some more characters that people know and love,” he said. “Getting into some new characters hopefully. Getting some more vehicles in there that people are waiting for. And just seeing where we can innovate, seeing where we can be creative, and seeing where we can hit some of those nostalgia points.”
